Website Draft Design Analysis
This is the homepage of my draft website where the audience is introduced to the musician which in this case is a DJ called M-Sea. The name is a play on words with MC which stands for mic controller also known as a DJ. I decided to have a black background as it makes the other features of my website stand out such as the images and font. Black is a formal, elegant, and prestigious colour. White according to the colour theory an inherently positive colour, is associated with purity, virginity, innocence, light, goodness, heaven, safety, brilliance, illumination, understanding, cleanliness, faith, beginnings, sterility, spirituality, possibility, humility, sincerity, protection, softness, and perfection. The use of hybridisation of black and white mixes the emotions of soft and powerful to make a bold statement that is not too overwhelming. I also incorporated neon paint splodges that the website provided for me with no copyright intended. The use of neon was inspired from Marshmello's website that i have already analysed and saw as a good stand out point of a website. The use of a compilation of Neon Hexadecimal Colour Codes that will make you turn the brightness down on your screen attracts a modern audience in a creative way. The colour pink according to the colour theory it is the colour of universal love of oneself and of others. Pink represents friendship, affection, harmony, inner peace, and approachability. Which i would want my users to feel when looking at my website. The colour green according to the colour theory is the colour of nature which symbolises growth and harmony making my users feel more at ease when looking at my website due to the effect of the colour theory having an impact on how they feel towards the website. Lastly , the colour blue symbolises trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. The photograph of the artist on website was edited black and white for the reason of making the neon colours stand out even more to make the colour theory and use of changing the users emotions more effective. As well as the use of the photo not including a direct mode of address resembling the meaning behind the colour black of mystery. My homepage also includes a navigation bar with the subheadings; 'Home' 'Listen' 'Shows' 'Video' 'Featured' and 'shop'.The navigation bar is an important element of a website's design since it allows users to quickly visit any section within the site. If you've ever visited a website without a navigation bar, you may have found it is difficult to locate the page you need. You may have also had to click "Back" several times in order to find a link to the next section you wanted to visit. On my website the navigation bar is available throughout the website making the users experience easier and more successful when looking for information such as tour dates. My homepage also includes social media links for the artists personal social media platforms. By including social media links you are building a rapport with your audience as they are gaining a deeper insight to your life. providing your visitors the opportunity to trust you more. With 79% of consumers trusting social proof as much as personal recommendations, it’s important you integrate the proper social widgets on your website to increase usage and website conversions. For my title and navigation bar i used the font 'Anton' as it was large and bold which i believed was a font that made my website stand out and look more modern compared to other fonts as seen on website research task. I like my homepage as it fits my target audience of 16-25 fun loving year old as it is young , modern and contemporary due to the bold colours and font. I also used hyperlinks that will navigate the audience to the artists social media platforms such as twitter. Shirky theory of understanding the impact that Web 2.0 technologies would have on the way that audiences interact with media production advancing user interface. His wide ranging analysis was quick to recognise that the media industry would shift irrevocably from a broadcast model in which a relatively few senders produced work to a democratised model of engagement. Shirky suggests that this migration was driven largely by peer to peer sharing platforms and social networking. The use of including social media platforms on the website allows this theory to take place.
Second feature of my website was the section dedicated to Video. In my website draft design i included my preliminary task video of unfinished sympathy. Having a page dedicated to just the music videos allows the users to find the music video. You can leverage your advertising by targeting your audience based on hundreds of factors. This way, you are gaining access to a more specific group of fans that could possibly benefit from watching your music as they are the users who are fans of the artist as they are looking at the website rather than watching the music video from other social media platforms such as YouTube or Spotify. The font used for the word video was 'lulo clean' this is due to it looking more modern and clean when applied to the website as the page is used to look more simplistic.
The fourth feature of my website was the page 'Listen' where users are able to listen the music without the music video that the artist created as well as a hyperlink to the artists I tune page. The font 'Lulo clean' was also used here as i wanted to carry out the same font throughout the website to create a repeated theme.Repetition encourages the use of repeating some typefaces within the page. When several typefaces are used on a page, it might distract the audience and fail to communicate what you want them to get from the content. I am happy with my draft website however for my final design i will add more pages as well as more professional photos that i will take myself.
