Risk Assessment
For my music video there are many risks that myself and the actors may endure. In most cases it is recommended that a team is put in place to take control of this planning process. The risks must be considered and solutions put in place. Paying extra attention to laws and legislation can ensure you are providing a safe environment for both workers and actors alike. This includes The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and The Noise at Work Regulations 2005. The key piece of legislation is the Health And Safety At Work Act 1974. Under the Act, Risk Assessments in my case a proper assessment of the potential health and safety issues that apply to the working situation of creating my music video 'Ocean Drive'. When planning my music video i needed to determine what kind of risks are caused by my work , consider how likely the risks are ,take appropriate action to resolve this and implement well known and effective industry practices making sure everyone involved is identifying and controlling the risks in both the indoor and outdoor settings.
The first risk within my music video would be the possibility of tripping over a cable to prevent this i will make sure myself as the Director and anybody involved in the music video will be aware of cables and tuck it away wherever possible. This could include chargers or lights that are located inside the house setting. There is also a possibility of tripping over a tripod in which the risk would be reduced by no running when in the area that i am filming the music video and making sure everyone is aware of the tripod as there will also be a risk of knocking over the tripod so making sure everyone and myself is cautious should be implemented. Tripping over outside objects is also a risk such as the settings in a public space such as a forest or a public house will have objects that cannot be controlled. This is would be introduced in the outdoor settings such as the bridge over the river as someone could trip over something on the bridge and injure themselves or the scene where the male is in the forest may inflict some hazards.
Lighting when recording my music video is also a potential risk as someone could knock the lighting over or burn themselves on the lighting. To prevent the light being knocked over i will try to put the lighting in a non-invasive place and not allow any disruptive behaviour to take place near it.To prevent to risk of someone harming themselves by burning self on lighting i will not let anyone close to the light source apart from myself as i know how to operate the item i will also turn off the light long before taking the bulb out. As well as making sure the bulb is not too hot as light bulbs in enclosed fixtures are also at a high risk for fire because heat is not able to dissipate as well. Bulbs inside a glass scone or globe can be more prone to fire than other bulbs. If a bulb overheats, it can damage a fixture and melt the socket inside of it, starting a fire. Meaning i will have to keep close control of the light to prevent possible risks.Electrocution is also a major risk when filming my music video due to the amount of wires used in the shooting area keep wires and lighting away from areas that it may get wet, such as by the river where some scenes are being shot.If you someone has been shocked i will also need to be aware , that emergency treatment may not be necessary, but you should still see a doctor as soon as possible. Internal damage from electric shocks is often hard to detect without a thorough medical exam.
The car used in the music video is also a risk such as me filming the car driving or the lights of the car may result in the car moving forward injuring an actor or myself in the meantime. To prevent this i would keep a safe distance from the car at all times keeping myself and other actors safe.
